So, Friday night one of my best friends and bridesmaids got engaged and I was blessed enough to be able to photograph it! Let’s talk about the scheming and juicy details shall we?

Jake texted me on Monday and told me about his plan to propose to Kendra on Friday night on the monument stairs (where they spent part of their first date; so precious!). He told me that he wanted me to set up a photoshoot for the two of them in which he would surprise her halfway through by proposing to her. This is where the scheming (and lying) began! I texted Kendra Monday night and told her that I really wanted to do a night time styled shoot on the monument stairs Friday night with candles lining the stairs. She was all for it and never once suspected anything.

Fast forward to Friday night (PROPOSAL DAY), Jake and Kendra met me at the monument stairs around 9:00 on Friday night. Right when they got there I told Kendra to go set her jacket over by my stuff; while she was turned around doing that, Jake quickly slipped me the ring. We started out just like any other photoshoot; I was posing them and snapping pictures for about 10 minutes.

After the first 10 minutes, I asked Kendra to turn and face Jake so that her back was towards me and Jake was facing me. I got Jake and Kendra to hug one another. I then walked up to Jake and told him that I was going to readjust his hands, but I actually snuck him the ring box without Kendra knowing.

I snapped a few shots of Jake with the ring box and Kendra being completely oblivious to what was about to happen. Also, could you not just die when you see the pure joy and excitement on Jake’s face; so sweet! After capturing these two shots, I told them to turn and face each other and that’s when Jake got down on one knee and proposed!

Kendra was absolutely shocked and so excited! It is obvious how much they love one another just by looking at their facial expressions in every picture. These two are such incredible people and such an amazing couple! I’m so excited to see what the Lord has in store for them in this new season of life. Jake and Kendra, I love you both so much and I want to thank you for letting me be a part of this life changing day!
